Boat Ladders

By Damian Sofsian

A boat ladder is an essential accessory for boats. They help in climbing in and out of the boats. Boat ladders can assist in climbing in the boat from two ways; one from the deck mount and two from the side. They come in a variety of models ranging from single step to five steps. The height of the boat helps in deciding the number of steps you need. They are mostly manufactured in a combination of aluminum, stainless steel, vinyl and plastic parts. Boat ladders have two hooks at the top to fit on the boats side for support. The width of your boat side should determine the size of the boat ladder hook. Most boat ladders come in folding type models with unbreakable rungs and do not sink in the water.

There are some special boat ladders. Transom ladders are meant for boats having transoms. Similarly, there are ladders for pontoon boats. Even an electric hydraulic controlled ladder is available for pontoon boats; having two handrails that extend up to facilitate climbing. For divers, there are sports boat ladders that come with center design and a comfortable angle for a problem-free, easy dive. And for the explorer who has to wear inflatable gear, specially designed ladders with contours are available. Rope ladders are not very common in boats, but they are quite convenient for swimmers. Rope ladders are used for landings and are essential for rescues. For the people, who like to take their dogs boating, there are boat ladders designed for dogs without gaps, so they can walk easily in and out of the boat without stumbling and falling.

Boat ladders should ideally fold flat for easy storage, should be sturdy and durable and provide maximum foot comfort. One can find boat ladders in outdoor activities stores, hardware shops, and special boat accessories shops or on the Internet. Some manufacturers provide custom-made boat ladders on request.

Starlight 35 yacht- The designer of the Starlight 35 Mk2 , Stephen Jones, has achieved an enviable reputation for his exceptional vision in hull form which has produced many of the most successful racing yachts in the UK in recent years. In the Starlight 35 Mk2, Stephen has provided a fast hull and easily manageable sail plan, combined with an accommodation layout which combines space and comfort with safety and seaworthiness. She was chosen by the judges in the Yachting World Rally as the best yacht in her size range. The Starlight 35 Mk2 enjoys exceptional qualities of thermal and acoustic insulation achieved by a building process which incorporates an inner and outer moulding, enclosing a foam core. This provides a hull which is quieter, warmer and has a noticeable lack of condensation compared with conventionally constructed yachts. The ambience achieved in the cabins from this construction method is therefore exceptional.

Most monohulls larger than a dinghy require ballast, depending on the design ballast will be 20 to 50 percent of the displacement. The ballast is often integrated into their keels as large masses of lead or cast iron. This secures the ballast and gets it as low as possible to improve it's effectivness. External keels are cast in the shape of the keel. A monohull's keel is made effective by a combination of weight, depth and length.

Buy a Used Boat For an Affordable Boat Experience

By Mike Railey

If you are planning to buy a boat, you have the option to buy a new boat or a used boat. Buying a used boat is very similar to buying a used car, the price you get for a used ca is considerably lesser than a new one, you get all the benefits of the depreciation in the value of the boat. The only thing to keep in mind however is the condition of the boat. You should be able to check the boat carefully before going for a purchase. If you don't have enough knowledge about boats, get the services of some expert to find you one. There are a lot of brokers who deal in used boat. Brokers often buy the boat, refurbish them and sell them again for a profit.

If you are tight on the money, buying a used boat could be the best bet. You even get some good finance on the used boats. Used boat loans make good sense as the cost of the boat is spread over a few years which you can pay easily. The brokers who deal in used boats also make arrangements for a loan if the client needs it. As with any other loan, its always a good idea to check the terms and conditions in advance before finalizing any offer. There are lenders who does not deal in the boats but give loans for used boats. You can compare the terms and conditions including the processing fee and other hidden costs with these lenders as well.

Used boats are definitely more affordable especially for the first time boat owners. When going for the boat or the loan you can always negotiate at the price and the other terms like interest rates or the loan period. Get a used boat in a good condition and get a used boat loan to enjoy the experience of a owning a boat.

Tips On ski boats

Inflatable boats are said to be the safest and most stable boats in the world now with the patented construction methods, technology used and the innovative designs allowing redundant safety systems to be in place (ie. multiple chambers in the tubeset in case 1 gets punctured, other still stay inflated). Because of their safety reputation, inflatable boats are now essentially the standard for use by the military, coast guard and other rescue agencies worldwide.

Most of day sailors (or even weekend sailors) will never really need navigational skills in order to be able to sail where they want. They will probably see the place right over the bow. People who sail further in the oceans, seas, and even on the Great Lakes of North America will - in turn - not get far without even the most elementary knowledge of how to find themselves on the charts, and where to sail next. As a matter of fact, they will sail far, very far - but from the course leading them to their port of destination.

Boat Sales - Know The Basics

By Abhishek Agarwal

Having the know-how about selling a boat is nearly as important as knowing how to buy one. You would obviously want to get the best possible price for your boat without scaring your potential clients away. Here are a few tips to help you with your boat sale experience. Remember to tell you potential buyers a fair amount of what you honestly think of the boat. It will almost always be a waste of time to try and hide any of its drawbacks. The buyers who are looking for second hand boats usually will know a fair deal about what a boat should be, and if they don't they will probably be accompanied by a friend or relative who can advise them regarding the same. When they see you are being honest about whatever may be wrong with your boat, chances are they will appreciate the gesture of honesty and go ahead and try and make the deal with you - as long as the boat is still in decent shape of course.

First, fair pricing of the boat needs to be done by getting an estimate of its worth. You can consult a professional and put an official value on the boat by having it appraised or follow value estimated in the marine blue booklet and estimate based on accessories and depreciation value of the boat.

It is a pretty serious affair to establish the current value of a boat. You could make a start by getting to know the present going price and deducting depreciation value. Next, add value of accessories along with their condition. This should help you ascertain a fair price both for you as well as the potential clients.

Knowing when it is time to sell your boat

Apart from price setting, you should know when to sell your boat. Take for example making an effort to sell a boat in the winter months will not fetch you potential buyers and may leave you disappointed. However, when you make an attempt to do so at the beginning of boating season may you will probably have buyers flocking to your product and for good prices to match. This lessens the effort you need to take. Therefore, take advantage of the due season to sell your boat.

A little on how one can sell a boat

Knowing how to sell a boat basically means you have it all planned out to the very last detail. All paperwork should be ready and available because misplacement of documents could delay your sale or help lose your potential buyer. The boat should also look its best on display. When you take care of these little things all else should comfortably slip right in to place.

Inside the hull, the deep bilge prevents any water from running into the accommodation when the boat is heeled. The half depth skeg, provides a lower bearing for the substantial rudder and ensures that the Starlight tracks straight without constant attention to the wheel. It is this attention to detail that makes the Starlight 39Mk2 a thoroughly seaworthy vessel.

Boat Accessories - The Cool Way To Dress Up Your Boat

By David Faulkner

Initially, we would think that the boat accessories industry does not carve a significant niche in the consumer market. How many people would actually own boats? Or how many of these people would spend good money dressing up their boats, for that matter? In reality, however, boat accessories are as fashionable as bags or apparel. There are boat accessories for different types of boats, and at reasonable prices, too.

There are a variety of boat accessories ranging from technical products such as tie downs, navigation lights, and pumps to electronic ones such as radar systems, radios, and lights. You will also find functional items such as seats, covers, and ladders. Not to be missed are the motor parts with the corresponding lubes.

Another category in the boat accessories market would include pedestals, fasteners, winches and jacks, spark plugs and starters, flooring and other internal setting items, tires and couplers, gauges, flotation aids and devices, anchors and rod holders, till and trim auxiliary materials, and fenders and dock lines.

Jackets, mooring equipment, heaters and lights, buoys, paddles, lifts, and hoists make up the precautionary products of boat accessories. Boat accessories that cater to the 'lighter side' of boating life consist of barbecues, grills, and swim decks with showers.

A boat owner may find a difficult time in deciding on what boat accessories to purchase, as there are a great many selections to choose from. Anchors, for instance, may be resistant, powder-coated contraptions available in different shapes and weights. These can be accessorized by anchor spool lines, anchor chains, spools, and nylon ropes. The anchors are made to be tolerant to fresh water, sea water, or both.

Protective covering for boats can also be equipped with boat accessories such as steel, aluminum, or tie-down support poles. Cover materials may be made of canvas suitable to every kind of boat.

Boat accessories for docking are comprised of vinyl or plyfoam fenders, sturdy corner bumpers, and protective mats for the hull.

In summary, boat accessories have proven to be a booming industry. They are the answer to many a boat owners requirements. The products are easily obtainable in your local stores or via online purchasing.

Tips About seadoo pwc

A major component of an inflatable boat is obviously the fabric. Inflatable boat fabric technology has evolved greatly over the last 20 to 30 years, and now includes plastomers, polyurethanes and other fabrics, which can sometimes be stronger, lighter, thinner and less expensive to assemble than the original rubber fabrics. Of course it costs a great deal of money to develop new fabrics or even to switch manufacturing processes to use them. Many manufacturers, big and small, don't have the will or the resources to do this, and that's why they generally hide that fact by resorting to condemning new technological advances in fabrics.

Luxury sailing yachts generally 82 ft or longer, in recent years, these yachts have evolved from fairly simple vessels with basic accommodation into sophisticated and luxurious boats. This is largely due to reduced hull-building costs brought about by the introduction of fibreglass hulls, and increased automation and "production line" techniques for yacht building, especially in Europe.

Ciguatera, A Danger For Yacht Crews Sailing In The Tropics

Sun, 16 Sep 2007 12:09:24 +0200
When catching dinner, how concerned are cruisers and sailors about catching fish which carry the Ciguatera toxin? I only know what amounts to 'folklore'. In Australian waters many anglers avoid eating large fish which are known to dwell amid coral reefs. The parrot fish (beautiful fillets!!) is known to be particularly prone to Ciguatera. I understand that fish caught in deep water, or away from coral, do not carry Ciguatera. Is this correct?

So, you're sailing along happily on your 40' yacht (just you and your wife), some 200 miles from the nearest landfall and you see a boat ahead. As you get closer you notice that the vessel is lying very low in the water and the people aboard are waving their arms frantically. As you approach you see that the vessel is very close to sinking and there are about 20 men aboard - obviously a boatload of refugees. It appears that the boat is going down fast.

Sailing/cruising To Achieve One's Goals.

Sun, 19 Aug 2007 16:55:16 +0200
After reading Liz Clark's sailing blog, my husband and I started talking about what was so refreshing about it (besides the good grammar and pics!). Well, the thing that jumped out was the fact that this cruiser wasn't identifying herself as a cruiser but instead as a surfer-girl. Her outlook on life, her goals, where she's going and what she's doing doesn't simply focus on "cruising" for the sake of cruising. We realized that we were craving another viewpoint like this. We absolutely love to hear about people who are achieving another life goal where sailing/cruising happens to be a conduit to the achievement. What do you all think?
