A Personal Watercraft or Jetski could be considered generally as a one or two person motorbike for the sea. Jet boat engines come in two varieties � inboard and outboard. Regardless of the type of motor, the jet system consumes about 30% of the engines horsepower while taking in the water and accelerating it out the back. All this talk of sanding and varnishing leads me to the thought that there are plenty of other things that need to be checked over/maintained on a regular basis if we're to stay afloat safely and remain healthy on a sailing yacht.

Link] What did you use for communications while sailing? Did you have a satellite phone? We have a laptop, while we are at sea, do you have any suggestions for internet access ( I know this can get vastly expensive, where do you draw the line at spending?). A further simple question. In the the Caribbean, what is the best way to clean fruit & vegetables? I am really looking forward to the markets, but am skeptical about the flies that may (or may not) be crawling over them....
